2023 Green Hydrogen Global Forum – Summary

The 2023 Green Hydrogen Global Forum was held under the theme “Leading the Clean Hydrogen Nation, Towards Sustainable International Cooperation.” Over the course of three days, the forum brought together more than 50 institutions and companies across 10 sessions, including international experts, government officials, and corporate leaders.
Key Highlights:
Opening Session & Keynotes: Featured speeches by senior government officials, including the Jeju Governor and representatives from the National Assembly and international organizations such as IPHE and the Danish Energy Agency.
Policy & Cooperation Sessions: Discussed global hydrogen strategies, Korea’s hydrogen bidding market, and the importance of local government in clean energy governance.
Industry Sessions: Leading companies including Hyundai, Doosan, SK, and Linde shared their green hydrogen investment plans and technological innovations.
Jeju Session: Focused on positioning Jeju as a global hub for green hydrogen and exploring international cooperation, with strong participation from Denmark.
Environmental Session: Addressed Jeju’s distributed energy strategies and energy system innovations, including Plus DR, ESS deployment, and VPP (Virtual Power Plant) pilots.
Citizen & Student Academies: Engaged the local community and youth in discussions on hydrogen and energy transition.
Achievements:
Affirmed Jeju’s leadership in renewable-based hydrogen production and its roadmap toward a Carbon-Free Island by 2030.
Highlighted the need for sector coupling (ESS, P2H, P2C, V2B) and policy support to expand the hydrogen economy.
Strengthened international cooperation, including potential collaboration with Denmark on Energy Islands and hydrogen infrastructure.
